Take paid surveys to prepare for the zombie apocalypse

Malcolm X once said "the future belongs to those who prepare for it today," and never is that more true than in a scenario involving zombies. These undead creatures may be the stuff of folklore and science fiction, but for some people, preparing for the potential onslaught of re-animated corpses is no joke.

Opinion Outpost members can take paid surveys to earn points and redeem gift cards to sites like Amazon*, where some people are even selling pre-made zombie preparedness kits. Users can also choose to make money from home online and use that money how they see fit. If you're interested in preparing for the zombie apocalypse on your terms, here are a few important things to keep in mind.

Safety first
Obviously the threat of zombies is in its own right very dangerous, but even if your neighborhood has yet to be affected by whatever virus or plague brought about this specific doomsday situation, you're going to need protection from looters and regular people who are unhinged by the event. For that reason, saving up on supplies is critical.

Wise Food Storage reported that it is easy to gather the right tools and resources to secure food for yourself and your family. Waiting until after the pandemonium has set could prove costly, however. This can also be true of securing other essential items like first aid kits or emergency radios. Even items like a flashlight or compass may be in short supply once panic takes over your town, so gather all the necessary supplies before the apocalypse hits.

Gear up
I
n the movie "World War Z," Brad Pitt explains that in dangerous situations, those who stay put often do not win the day. Finding a way to leave from a zombie-ridden city or town may be difficult, but it will be essential for survival. For that reason, having an extra can of gasoline and basic car repair tools is critical for when it comes time to move on.

According to Business Insider, a good zombie preparedness kit also includes things like gloves, binoculars, batteries and other helpful items for when times get tough. Protecting yourself is important, but without the right tools to sustain yourself and your family, it will be difficult to survive the apocalypse.

The weapons
One of the most enduring aspects of all zombie movies is the firepower. The protagonists are usually armed to the teeth, much to the dismay of the undead bad guys. A single shot to the head is all it takes to stop one of these creatures.

Unfortunately, even if you do own a firearm, these need bullets, meaning there is a finite number of times a gun is effective. From there, finding ammo becomes a critical concern that can require you leave your safehouse. Opting for a melee weapon that does not need to be reloaded, therefore, is the key to success. A bat or ax can be used indefinitely and when used correctly is just as useful when it comes to protecting yourself.
